Mock Trial

The trial will play out as it would in real life to enable all attendees to see how claims we often see the start of, and play a vital role in would culminate in the court room. A mock trial package will also be sent to all attendees prior to the event outlining the details of the claim case to ensure all attendees have the opportunity to read through the papers before the trial.

We will also require two attendees to play the part of witnesses – one as the Claimant in the, and another to take the part of the witness for the Defendant. The witnesses will be cross examined by attendees nominated from the team acting as lawyers for the Claimant and from the team acting as lawyers for the Defendant. If you would like this opportunity to be part of the action and play one of these roles please let us know on booking (names will be drawn at random from all those who volunteer).

A “real” judgement will be made at the end of the trial so if you ever wished you were able to watch a trial in progress, participate in feedback and questions and to learn what goes on at Trial this is your opportunity.

Learning Objectives: By attending this event delegates will be have an understanding of:

• preparation for a Trial from the incident happening through to insurers weighing up the prospects of successfully defending the matter to Trial;

• the following considerations for a Trial:

- evidence;

- changes in the legislation for work place claims;

- cost implications of winning / losing at Trial.
