REVISION COURSE FOR THE AWARD IN LONDON MARKET INSURANCE (ALMI)

PAPER 1

For whom

For staff taking LM1 in the next two to three weeks. Delegates will be expected to have read

and studied the text supplied by the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Objectives

To guide delegates with preparation for the examination and to assist them to develop

suitable revision strategies. The course will encourage delegates to make the most effective

use of their revision time and enable them to fully understand the course content. The tutor

will also clarify topics which may be problematic for delegates using handouts, revision notes

and examination style questions.

Ø Risk and insurance

Ø The classes of insurance

Ø Agency law and the principles of insurance

Ø Overview of regulation of the UK insurance industry

Ø The organisation of the London Insurance Market – London market companies and

Lloyd’s syndicates

Ø The role and responsibilities of the insurance broker

Ø The role and responsibilities of the underwriter

Duration of course – one full day

Notes

Delegates will practice mock examination questions during the course and will be given a

workbook which includes exam style questions to practice after the course.
