CPD WEBINAR: EMERGING RISKS - What Is Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG)?

Tuesday, 17 January 2023
12:30 pm – 1:30 pm (UK time)
    • Kerris Earle, Training Consultant, Zing 365 Training Ltd

Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) regulation is on the rise globally with many new requirements for companies to report on how they are managing ESG risks, and what actions they are taking to prevent adverse impacts on the climate and other factors such as Human Rights.

Companies across sectors and industries including the financial services are needing to review their existing strategies, policies, and procedures to prepare not only for incoming regulation, but also the impact of growing stakeholder awareness and interest in ESG performance.

Global initiatives and their influence of top-level organisational decisions can often feel quite far removed from an employee and their individual role, but when it comes to ESG this isn’t the case. To be successful an ESG strategy should shape how a company “does business” and requires embedding into an organisations culture, values and behaviours, which all take root with the individual.

This session is tailored to help members better understand the fundamentals of ESG including:

what ESG is, its importance for modern-day business practices, how it relates to key stakeholders and the role that they play as an employee in helping their organisation hit its ESG goals.

Learning objectives

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

• Explain what ESG is and how it has evolved
• Identify and describe key ESG Factor and concepts
• Describe why ESG is important for modern business
• Understand the role you play in ESG

Trainer Background

I am a compliance professional with 9 years’ experience in highly regulated environments in a variety of roles including Account Manager, Claims Handler and DPO.

Over half of my career has been in compliance, risk and governance positions in the insurance and fundraising sectors.
Compliance is my specialism as I enjoy topics that require critical thinking, ethical consideration, interpretation, and offer challenge in an environment subject to change.

My knowledge and experience coupled with my passion and approach to compliance as a collaborative function that challenges the view of compliance as one and done “tick box exercises”, has helped shape and support success whilst offering protection from financial and reputational damage.
Training, learning and development and offering guidance on complicated topics in simple understandable terms has always been my favourite part of my previous roles, and I am passionate about sharing my knowledge, experience, and expertise to support others to develop and grow their own knowledge.
