In line with World Animal Day, Mandy from The Cinnamon Trust will be talking about pet companionship, the origins of The Cinnamon Trust, as well as how The Cinnamon Trust preserves this special bond and changes the lives of older people and their pets.
The Cinnamon Trust was created in 1985 by Mrs Averil Jarvis MBE who saw that older people were being separated from their beloved pets when they needed them most due to lack of support. Mrs Jarvis aimed to ease older peoples' worries by providing pet care from local volunteers in their area who would dog walk, short term foster and when registered, find forever foster homes through our Pet Profiling service for pets whose owners could no longer look after them. This way, she started building a national volunteer network that is now made of over 20,000 volunteers, while reimagining forever care by making it kennel and cattery free and always in home-from-home environments.
