Improving your delegation skills

Thursday, 15 February 2024
12:00 pm – 1:15 pm (UK time)

Being able to delegate tasks to others can be one of the hardest managerial responsibilities. The temptation is just to do it yourself – after all you’re likely to do a much better and quicker job, and it’s going to take more time to explain it to someone else.

This common view leads you to slowly grind to a halt as you become overwhelmed with work. Your own efficiency can suffer and you can have disgruntled and demotivated colleagues who would be only too happy to take more responsibility.

This session will give you the confidence to let go of tasks without losing control and give you the skills to use delegation as a motivational tool.

Aim

To help delegates understand and practice how to delegate work effectively.

Content

  • Why delegation can make you do your job more successfully
  • Understand why you and other managers don’t delegate
  • Identify different ways to delegate tasks
  • An effective process for delegation
  • Common pitfalls of delegation

The session will be interactive and will use case studies and best practice models to improve skills.
