Coronavirus Business Continuity webinar -26.3.20
As the number of novel coronavirus cases continue to increase more and more companies are considering how and when to implement business continuity plans which, in the case of a pandemic, often include teams or offices working from home. This event is a webinar which will be run via Zoom, a global web-conferencing solution. Zoom is easy to use and a link will be provided for members who book a place on the webinar within the joining instructions.

The Thames Valley Regional PFS Committee in association with the Insurance Institute of Reading have organised a training day for those members who are studying for and taking the RO2 examination. By the end of the course, delegates will have covered the key elements of the RO2 syllabus with the emphasis on the CII Learning Outcomes, will have been introduced to the exam format and adopting a suitable exam technique. Advanced BI Day Course 2
Due to popular demand, we are offering this course for the second time this year. This one-day course is for those with some prior working knowledge of business interruption insurances. SME level is fine. The aim is to provide an enjoyable and comprehensive analysis on the key elements of the BI policy and of how BI works in practice. We shall look at covers and policy benefits, and work on guiding clients on Sums Insured and Maximum Indemnity Periods etc. After attending this course, participants should have a strong understanding of the major aspects of Business Interruption Insurance, to assist in correctly assessing clients’ needs in arranging adequate cover and helping confidently with a BI claim.

British Heart Foundation Charity Golf Day 23rd Sept 2019
The Insurance Institute of Reading has nominated the British Heart Foundation as one of its charities for 2019-20. We previously supported the BHF in 2005-6 and 2008-2011 and raised around £10,000 over that period and were able to make a donation in 2011 which was allocated to a local university research project funded by the BHF. Our President has been involved with fundraising herself since 2005 and is the lead volunteer for the Reading British Heart Foundation Volunteer Fundraising Group and held a successful golf day via the group last year that was well and generously supported by the insurance market.

Construction Industry Update Seminar
This presentation provides an overview of the current UK Construction Industry. Looking at the positive and negative impacts within the Industry as well as topical events ranging from ‘Iceberg Homes’ to ‘Construction Plant Theft’. Outcomes of Grenfell Seminar
Everyone has been touched in some way by the tragic events of the Grenfell fire in 2017 where over 70 people died. This session will explore the changes made to Grenfell Tower, how the fire risk changed leading to devastating consequences. The session will then look forward to how building regulations are changing in the UK in response to Grenfell.
