Most people in their 20s treat their pension as background noise — something work set up that they will deal with later. This session makes the case for why that attitude is the single most expensive financial habit a young adult can form.

By the end of this session, attendees will be able to:
1. Explain what a pension is for and how it actually works

2. Understand why starting early creates an advantage that income alone cannot replicate

3. Identify the real cost of opting out or delaying contributions

4. Describe how pensions fit alongside budgeting, debt, and short-term saving in their 20s

5.Name three practical habits that set up long-term financial resilience from the first payslip

Speaker Bio

Vignas (Vig) Gunasegaran CFA FPFS - Director, Redbridge Financial Ltd

Vig is a Chartered Financial Planner and Director of Redbridge Financial, an independent financial planning firm based in Hertfordshire.

He holds both the Chartered Financial Analyst(CFA) designation and Fellowship of the Personal Finance Society (FPFS).

He specialises in later life financial planning and vulnerable beneficiary trust work, supporting individuals and families through some of the most important financial decisions of their lives — pensions, estate planning, retirement income, and long-term financial security.

His approach is built on clarity. Financial decisions rarely fail because the maths is too hard; they fail because the choices feel too complex, the language too technical, or the timing too uncertain.

Vig works to remove those barriers, helping people understand not just what their decisions involve, but what they mean for the life they want to build.

Redbridge Financial Ltd is an appointed representative of Corbel Partners Limited, authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
