I am truly honoured to be elected as President of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Cardiff. I feel incredibly fortunate to work alongside such a dedicated and talented committee. Our passion and commitment will undoubtedly make the next few years successful.

My journey with the Insurance Institute of Cardiff began in 2019 when I was invited to join the committee. I was particularly drawn to Novus, the then young-professionals sub-committee. Since then, I’ve taken on various roles including Novus President, Secretary and Awards Officer. To now lead the committee as President is a great honour.

Like most of us in our profession, I didn’t plan a career in insurance. In 2007, I fell into the industry while working to fill the gap before starting my university degree. However, I decided to forgo my law degree as I enjoyed helping people with their commercial insurance requirements and that’s when I realised I could have a bright future and career. The rest is history!

Being the President of the Insurance Institute of Cardiff is a chance to give back to an industry and community that have shaped my own career. The industry offers such a variety of different career paths and it’s our responsibility to showcase this – through career outreach, jobs fairs and educational initiatives in schools, colleges and universities. Few people currently leave school or higher education seeking a career in financial services, especially insurance - it’s simply not perceived that way. Yet, while many of us fall into the industry by chance the opportunities it offers are truly exceptional.
