Why do some messages engage us while others are quickly forgotten? Participants will consider how to make their ideas easier to understand, more relevant and more memorable, using influence ethically to support informed choices and constructive conversations.
Learning objectives:
Following this presentation the delegates will be able to:
- Recognise how attention and mental effort affect an audience’s ability to engage with a message.
- Simplify and structure information to reduce unnecessary cognitive demands.
- Use relevant stories, examples and repetition to support understanding and recall.
- Recognise how emotion, trust and perceived threat can affect responses to a conversation.
- Apply these insights to communicate recommendations clearly, address concerns and invite action without pressure.
